THIS WEEKS GUEST SPEAKER

Journalist Denise Irvine has been a story-teller all her working life, and is a former features editor and features writer for the Waikato Times.

She continues to freelance for the Waikato Times; and writes for a number of popular magazines, private businesses and local government.

Food writing is her specialty. She is proud of the Waikato’s culinary charms and has written many features about the region’s chefs and artisan food producers. She is restaurant reviewer, an assessor for the Cuisine Good Food Guide Awards, and a member of the Foodwriters' New Zealand. She is a three-time winner of the Foodwriters Culinary Quill Award for Journalism.

However, she is primarily a marriage celebrant and loves her work; touching people’s lives at a happy time. Last night she described her work in depth and explained that she has co-written a book with fellow celebrant Kerril Cooper entitled The Big Day, A Guide to Getting Married in New Zealand, published by New Holland.
