There was a modest increase in membership, and the Rotary Foundation fifth plateau was reached.

A working bee at Mardon Road Community Centre completed landscaping and terrace railings.

A major coats-off project was clearing gorse from club member John Burton’s gully to raise $400 for Club funds.

Other fund-raisers included a fashion show and the sale of Fire Extinguishers.

Elgar Henry was again Director of Studies for the District RYLA Seminar.

Norman Law, who had recently been awarded an OBE, was honoured as a Paul Harris Sustaining Member.
